After many years of development Microsoft is launching a new MSN search engine. Up until now MSN has used Yahoo!’s Akamai search (which is interesting since Yahoo uses Google’s search engine). MSN is promoting their search engine as more than just an index of the web drawing information from other Microsoft products such as the Encarta encyclopedia to serve as a reference tool.
I just found a Google AdSense ad placed by Microsoft for the new MSN search. Apparently, Microsoft doesn’t mind spending money with it’s search engine arch-rival Google, if they see an end game to take some of their traffic.
