Superbowl Censoring & Marketing

In general most of the Superbowl commercials and half-time show were pretty demure last night. There were a couple of ads that could be considered risque, but they weren’t seen more than once.

One of the reasons that they weren’t seen more than once is that the NFL was censoring some of the ads before they ran a second time. Bob Parsons, founder of GoDaddy.com, reports in his blog that Fox and the NFL yanked their ad after the initial airing. It was scheduled to run a second time in the final minutes of the game.

When most companies buy a commercial during the superbowl, they recieve a lot more in return than just the millions of eyeballs watching their 30 second spot. Many network newscasts and websites make a big deal about Superbowl commercials and the companies ads get seen several more times than just during the Superbowl.
